Please do not come to me for any help regarding this. How many times I have to say there is no plan and support for people like you. Do not disturb me any farther.

Those words are from Mr. Aziz Haider Bhuiyan, Sub-district Executive Officer (Upazila Nirbahi Kormokorta) of Sreepur Upazila under Gazipur District to the group for several times knocking on his door for requesting to build a computer center. Earlier a government higher official went to visit the indigenous people of Sreepur upazila under Gazipur districts and announced the building of  a computer center for them. Two years passed by and nobody has taken any initiative’s for that computer center. Afterword our field organizer Ms. Purnima Hadima, her animators and two group members went to the relevant authority several times for the computer center issue. Two times they had the chance to meet with Mr. Aziz Haider Bhuiyan of Sub-district Executive Officer (Upazila Nirbahi Kormokorta). The  first time when they met him at his office he said he knows nothing about the project and at the last date of meeting with them he got angry and said “Please do not come to me for any help regarding this. How many times I have to say there is no plan and support for people like you. Do not disturb me any farther.” Ms. Purnima Hadima and her group was sad and came back home.

They called RIB for advice. Ms. Purnima Hadima arranged a meeting with her group on that evening and the next morning she prepared a RTI application and submitted that to the proper authority through registered post. The application subject was “How much money has been allocated in favor of Computer Training Center for indigenous people within the 2011 – 2012 fiscal years and how much money was spent sectors wise for that project and also wants to know how much time it will take to launch the computer training center” and the authority was “Mr. Aziz Haider Bhuiyan, Sub-district Executive Officer (Upazila Nirbahi Kormokorta) of Sreepur Upazila under Gazipur District”.

Thirty working days passed by. Neither any phone call nor any reply was sent from that office within that period. Again Ms. Purnima Hadima consults with RIB office in Dhaka and submitted another appeal application to the District Counselor, MR. Nurul Islam of Gazipur District on 13th April, 2014.

After couple of days Ms. Purnima Hadima received a telephone from DC office and also from Mr. Aziz Haider Bhuiyan, Sub-district Executive Officer. Both of them called her and her group members and informed them they are going to start up the work again and also requested not to go for complaint submission. By the  time  of writing this report, they have started working for the above mentioned project and also the authority requested them (Bormon community) to select / propose a name for Computer trainer from their community. By this the Bormon and Koch community achieved a big success through RTI. This success is not only for present generation but also for future generation of the indigenous people of that area.
